The joy of Christmas past...
The smell of fresh-baked cookies,
mulled apple cider with orange rind.
The frosty air through my nostrils,
while breathing out into a wooly scarf.
Icicles hanging on the window sill.
A snowman with button eyes
staring at me.
Candle lights glistening in the snow...
A dream.
of Christmas past.
While laying out in the hot Hawaiian sun,
surrounded by palms
and plumeria.
A wish.
For peace.
In a new year.
Unknown.
A prayer for protection.
And well wishes for friends
and loved ones.
May we all be better this year.
Because we paused to think
and celebrate lights, warmth, love,
peace and
the promise of forever.
Blessings to all...
Mele Kalikimaka from an island far away.
